Rick,

Thank you for posting the Company H, 1st Alabama Cavalry information; however, it does not give "Record of Events" for Company H (new).

I did a search of the National Archives Microfilm Publications Microcopy No. 276, Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Union Soldiers Who Served in Organizations From the State of Alabama and found "Record of Events" cards numbers 12391823, 12391824, and 12391825 for Company H (new). The cards show Company H (new) stationed in Huntsville and Blountsville. The cards' "Record of Events" are "blank" (no information):

Card #12391823
H Co., 1 Reg't Ala. Cav. (new)
Company muster roll for March and April 1865
Show station of Company, Huntsville, Alabama
Records of eventsó(blank)
Barnes, copyist

Card #12391824
H Co., 1 Reg't Ala. Cav. (new)
Company muster roll for May and June 1865
Show station of Company, Huntsville, Alabama
Records of eventsó(blank)
Barnes, copyist

Card #12391825
H Co., 1 Reg't Ala. Cav. (new)
Company muster roll for July and August 1865
Show station of Company, Blountsville, Alabama
Records of eventsó(blank)
Barnes, copyist.

Why was 1st Alabama Cavalry, Company H "new" stationed at Huntsville, Alabama, (March, April, May and June 1865), and Blountsville, Alabama, (July and August 1865)? The "Records of Events" are shown "blank" for the months March through August 1865. Was Company H (new) scouting, recruiting, guarding the flanks, or skirmishing? May be that the Huntsville, and Blountsville newspapers covered the events?

Again, thank you for your time and the information I received.

Best regards,
Johnny L.T.N. Potter
