I originally posted this on the 7th TN several lines down but decided I really needed to start a new thread.
I recently found information that a gggrandfather fought for the Federals, which I take to mean Union. He was from middle Tennessee, Wilson Co., but doubt that he enlisted there. Have no idea where to look for information on him. He did draw a Pension up until his death about 1878 and his widow drew it until her remarriage in 1880. Have come across several possibilities with no way of knowing the right man. Name: George Allison Gibson possibly G. A. Gibson, actually any combination of; thought I could find information from the wife's Pension: Elizabeth Lamastus Gibson - but don't know where to look. Confederate Pensions are easy to find the right numbers; but Union I have no clue. He could have enlisted anywhere? Any help is much appreciated as I have no clue how to find him. I know I will have to write NARA for the file, need to be sure it is the right person as the file as you know can be very expensive.
Thanks for reading this and helping if possible.
