Rick, Thank you for your reply. Jesse and two women were charged by the state of NC with harboring a Jonas Killian so that he could not be inducted into the confederate army. Jonas who lived next door to Jesse may have been a relative, Jonas ended up joining the union army in Tennessee in 1864. After the war 1865 Jesse and Jonas were beaten by the KKK for attempting to raise the American flag at the Catawba co. NC courthouse. I wonder if Jonas could be Jacob? Best regards, Carolyn |
