I'm a few years late, but just read your post about Robert E. Lee. I'm a Texas Yankee educated in Chicago and one of my favorite military officers is Robert E. Lee, because he was my ideal of an officer and gentleman: brave, noble and free of the vices. He was second in his class at West Point and graduated without demerits. That impressed me.
