I have a puzzle that I am hoping someone can help me solve - or at least give me an educated guess. My great great grandfather, Julian Reed, was born in Scott Co., TN in 1842. I know his younger brother, Harrison Reed (b 1844), fought as a Union soldier. In fact, I believe he was at Andersonville Prison and survived. Julian and Harrison also had some older half brothers who, according to my information, fought for the Union. But I have never been able to find any indication that Julian himself fought for either side. Julian's oldest child was born in 1860. His next child was not born until 1866 (assuming there were no miscarriages, stillbirths, etc...). That gap looks possibly significant to me but, again, I can find nothing that tells me what Julian did during the war. He was still in Scott Co., TN in 1860 but had moved his family to Witley Co., KY by 1870. I'm not sure whether that means anything either. Any thoughts?
