Does anyone know anything about the SS Bordino, which took the officers and crew, who survived the sinking of the USS Hatteras, from Jamaica to the US?
I received the name of the ship, from the National Archives with information concerning a relative. They also also recommended that I check out: THE WAR OF THE REBELLION: A COMPILATION OF THE OFFICIAL RECORDS OF THE UNION AND CONFEDERATE NAVIES (Washington 1874-1885,reprinted Harrisberg 1971&1985)multivolume work available at most refernce libraries, and on web:
I found a couple of references to the ship, refering to its being chartered for the job of returning the crew. I realize, that as it is not a Military vessel, it would not be mentioned more than it was. However, being curious, I would like to know something about the ship, to put in my records.
So, am wondering if anyone has access to anything about the ship, or how to find it.
Anything about the ship, would be appreciated very much.
By the way, the above books, are extremely interesting. They also prove, that nothing much ever changes.
