My. G.Great Grandfather (Newton Ozbirn) was a soldier with the First Alabama Calvary,in one of his old letters he talks about a fight they had in October 1863,at a place he calls the Flat woods,He says His horse was shot and killed under him. What I would like to know is,Where was the FLAT WOODS? I think it was somewhere north of Golden Mississippi, but not sure.If anyone on the list knows I would appreciate it if they would let me know.Joel.
