George W. Morrow of the Third TN Mounted Infantry died at his home near the Morrow Gap in Cherokee County , NC in June of 1866 from "heart dropsy".
"Sheriff William Beal of the said County attempted to serve a subpena on Morrow to appear at Murphy at the September Term and there tetify in the case of James Reddick, John Donly and James Loudermilk charged with forcible trespass on the dewling of James K. Morrow, returned with the process with the endosement that G.W.Morrow had just died. If Morrow had been murdered, the Sheriff would certainly have said so."
I find it strange that a young man like George Morrow would died of heart dropsy just before being supenaed to court for that September. That as you will remember was the day of the Murphy gun battle.
