Gen. Philip D. Roddey headed up a brigade which consisted of the 4th and 5th Alabama Cavalry, CSA, both of which saw a lot of duty in northwest Alabama. As a part of this, Roddey came up against the strong Union sentiment in that part of the state. Recently, someone remarked that there was evidence that Roddey had collaborated with the enemy. What evidence is there to support this claim? I posted this question on another board and got no answers, but one man did e-mail me and said he thought Roddey was in communication with the Peace Society. Does anyone have anything specific on this topic?
