I spent New's Years Eve watching "Gods and Generals" with my six year old son who was so fascinated that he sat through the entire almost four hours without any trouble. The trouble was mine when he repeatedly asked, as the battles advanced, " Daddy, are those the good guys." How could I answer to the satisfaction of a six year old? I could tell him that we were union and he was fascinated that two of his great great great grandfathers were union soldiers in the 2d and 7th Tenn., respectively. But I also attended law school at Washington & Lee and this union descendent has a portrait of Gen Lee on his office wall. I couldn't call him (or Stonewall)a bad guy. But doesn't that sum up the war?
