There were several Barton brothers in the First Alabama Cavalry, USA, including Jonathon "Josh" Barton. During the Civil War he lived in a community in Winston County, Alabama, that was known as Larissa. It is my understanding that this is near the location of Natural Bridge.
While visiting northwest Alabama last September, I drove south out of Haleyville, past Natural Bridge and then turned left on a road heading toward Double Springs. Shortly after turning, I saw a mailbox with the name Barton on it. My questions: Would this be an ancestor of the Barton brothers from the First Alabama? Is the location of this house pretty close to where Jonathon Barton lived? If not, what was the location of Jonathon's property?
