Hi:

I have ancestors who were from Morgan Co, AL and served in the CW and were
members of the 1st AL CAV Union--except for John, the father, went to Marion
County, Centralia, IL about 1865 and maybe some other towns. They went
where they could find work and maybe because of the devastation in the south.

Parents:

John Parker & Drucella Parker, John died in Centralia about 1865 & Drucilla
died in Morgan Co, AL about 1870.

Their sons:

William C. Parker & Susan C. Devan, lived in Morgan Co & LawrenceCo, AL
prior to CW. Both returned to AL about 1870 and died there. From W.C.'s CW
files, it was stated that his wife, Susan, and Drucella lived in Nashville
during the war. maybe in a safe house. Has anyone heard of this? I have
found the burial place of Susan & about 99.9% that I've found W.C. burial
palace. I would like to find any of their closest living relatives because I
would like to order a tombstone for him.

S. C. Parker & ______ also went to the same place. Have not located him
but he returned to Morgan Co, Al probably about 1870. No CW file found at
the Natl Archives.

Simeon R. Parker & Anne Arnell? also went to same place. He also returned to
AL & died there. No burial place found. He was mentioned in W.C. Parker's
CW file but no file was found on him. Simeon wasn't in the 1st AL Cav but he
served in the CW.

I would like to hear from anyone doing research on this family plus people
whose famalies moved to IL after the war and/or lived in "safe houses."

Thank you for starting this list.

My greatgrandfather was John Anderson, son of John & Drucilla, but he stayed
in AL after the war.
