Skillman descendants and friends, A couple of months ago I finally hooked up to CABLE! The increase in speed was the impetus to start using ROOTSWEB for my online descendancy of THOMAS. The updated site has 3053 files for a total of 8.21MB. Part of the problem was that my genealogy program, Family Origins, which uploaded files to a Genealogy.com site, was "improved" to RootsMagic which had no upload capability. So, I finally figured out how to upload files using WS_FTP.exe. AOL provides an FTP upload for one file at a time, so you need an FTP program to upload thousands! But I'm keeping AOL so I have access when the cable is down and to preserve my huge correspondence file with my genealogy pals - that's you! But, I digress! You can access the online files as well as the downloadable files at my original site at http://members.aol.com/wskillman/gene.htm Thomas Skillman's descendancy now includes 6743 direct descendants of which 3674 are Skillmans. Both sets of files are "privatized" so only the full name and linkage are shown for persons ROOTSWEB decides are Living. If you haven't been able to connect to Thomas, maybe the expanded database will help you. If you know your connection, more data may be available on your line since there have been many changes since the last online update.
