There seems to be some confusion as to which William SKILES is which and little to prove their identities. Let's focus on William SKILES (ca 1739-aft 1811) who married Elizabeth MILLER for the moment. If William was born ca 1739 and married Elizabeth in 1788, he had plenty of time for an ealier marriage. A 1799 birth for his son William supports that theory. Like you, I initially thought his first wife was Lydda CHADWILE, but from what I've seen online she married either his uncle or cousin. I'd really like to know the original source of information about William and children. I have them tentatively (with census locations) as: 1. William b. 1799 m. Rachel 1850 in Crawford co, MO; 1860 & 1870 in Dent co, MO; 1880 Rachel was a widow in Dent co 2. Ephraim b. c1805 m. Leanna or Mary? 1850 Leanna & 2 children in Bledsoe co, TN 1850 E L and M & 11 children in Harrison co, TX 3. Jacob b. 1805 m. Susannah HIXON 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 in Bledsoe co, TN 4. Mary 'Millie' b. 1806 m. Benjamin BOWMAN 1870 in Dent co, MO 5. John b. 1808 m. Artilitha MILLER 1850, 1870, 1870 in Texas co, MO; 1880 John there as widow 6. Henry 1830 possibly the one in Bledsoe co, TN; not found after that 7. Peter Joseph b. 1810-13 m1. Fannie ARRENDUFF; m2. Martha BROWN (or MAPLES?); m3. Sintha 1850 in Saline co, IL 1860, 1870, 1880 in Dent co, MO 8. Susan 'Susie' b. c1814 m. Stephen CLICK 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 in Dent co, IL 9. Rebecca b. c1816 m. Ephraim NELSON 1850 in Adair co, MO; not found after that 10. Jane b. say 1819 m. Jonas HOLT not found I would appreaciate any additional information or evidence anyone can provide.
