The book "Ritchie/Shelledy family history : our people who came to Kansas Territory in 1855, John Ritchie and Mary Jane Shelledy, his wife" is available on microfilm from your local Family History Center. I have attached a "tiny URL" to reach this citation as the original citation was 255 characters. If you click on it, it will show you the original URL so you know I'm not doing anything bad.

The book is over 600 pages long but it is the last section of this book which contains much well researched and documented information on the early Shillideays. It has helped me to break through several brick walls. The rental cost for this microfilm is $5.50 and you will have it for about a month. After three rentals, it stays permanently at your local Family History Center (which is what I'm going to do as I never answer all my questions on the first try)

I cannot say too much in praise of the Family History Centers for the help they have given me in my research. The Latter Day Saints (Mormons) maintain these libraries and their genealogical resources for the use of the public, with no strings attached.
