Bill was born in Yuma, Scott Co VA, on June 9, 1928, to Brandon L. and Sarah Jane Shelton. He has resided in Kingsport since 1950. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II; and he was retired from the Mead Company. Bill was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Worley, Elmer Paul, Verlin; four half-brothers; and his sister, Gertrude. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Shelton; sons, David, Allen, and Jack and wife, Joyce; daughters, Susan Leuty and husband James, and Sandy Smith; five grand- children; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Gladys Maxwell and Mollie Hicks. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kingsport Hematology and Oncology Group. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association. Private graveside services will be conducted, Tuesday March 17, 2009, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport, with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating.
