Hi Bobee- I don't know if this will help or not but I recognized the Putnam name in connection with Seward. My father's greataunt was a Barbars Putname ( b. 1845) married to his greatuncle, Victor Carlton Seward,( b. July 10, 1845). This is mostly NY, IN, and MN. Their brother-in-law was William Hoyt Seward who was born in NY and eventually came to CA. I think the connection is interesting, although prob. not a direct link for you. kathie
