The next installment of collateral names from the extended family of Garret and Maria Neefus Van Pelt is the Mary Van Pelt and Abner Sears family. Mary Van Pelt Sears, b. 6 Mar 1789 in Essex County, NJ, d. 3 Aug 1865 in Scott County, IL, was the eldest daughter of Alexander and Hannah Anderson Van Pelt and the granddaughter of Garret and Maria Neefus Van Pelt. Abner Sears was b. 15 Jun 1787 in MA, son of Sgt. Richard and Mary Lee Sears. They were married 30 Dec 1807 at Troy, Rensselaer County, NY. There are still many unknown maiden names in these families, so all new cuzzins with puzzle pieces to share will be most welcome. Note that I have done minimal research on this particular family because the direct descendants seem quite satisfied with what’s already out there, including extensive Sears family work, but I have found some questions in this family that do need better answers.
