Afternoon Susan

I have found apparently the Margaret SMART Death on Scotland's People, including the alternative surname of Massie, 1913, born about 1835 - is this the lady married to Charles Massie in 1855?

With your g-grandmother being born before Statutory Registration started inn 1855, there is unfortunately a fair chance that her Birth was not recorded in the Parish Registers or that those OPRs have not survived to be included in the modern computerised databases for BMDs.

I did an analysis some years back; and from that it seems that only about 40% of Births in the 1840 to 1854 OPR period, appear in the on-line databases, compared with the 1855 to 1970 SR period.

An alternative source of clues are the Censuses, 1841, 1851 and 1861 particularly - but I have not been able to make a positive identification of any of the persons you list, also taking account of the various surnames involved.

It may help if you gave the sources of your information, as confirming those would help to build up a greater picture.
