I am looking for Jessie Brown, parents unknown, who gave birth to an illegitimate child, William Brown, on April 17, 1891 in Stichill, Roxburghshire. William Brown was adopted by Michael Kimlin and Mary Bell. (They are all on the 1901 Census along with Robert Bell, a son of Mary Bell, probably 'illegitimate' also.)
The Kimlin family was from Ireland and Michael Kimlin's sister, Margaret Kimlin, married Archibald Hunter Hendry, son of Charles Hendry and Marion Hunter. (Archibald Hunter Hendry and Margaret Kimlin are my great great grandparents.)
Archibald Hunter Hendry's daughter, May Hunter Hendry, was my maternal grandmother and her sister, Margaret 'Daisy' Hendry married William Brown who was known as 'William Kimlin' at the time. William Kimlin later changed his surname back to 'Brown'.
The family is looking for the family of Jessie Brown and the possible birth father of William Brown/Kimlin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are also looking for the later marriage of Jessie Brown and the children from that marriage.
Jessie Brown identifies herself as a 'Farm Outworker' on the birth registration. The birth place is identified as 'Stichill Cottage'. Parish of 'Stitchel'.
