Hi Marg,

My search involves mostly Ruickbie and Ruckbie –however on occasional through time it has been misspelled or transcribed as Ruby, Rubie, Rickabee, Ruickby, Rukbie, Rugeby, Rigbie, Rigby, Ruksbie, Rugbie, Rugvie, Ruicbie, Roebuck, Reekby, Reekbie…. And on…

This family, in Scotland, was concentrated mostly in Peebles, Selkirk, and Roxburghshire –with very small bits in Dumfries, Lanark, and West Lothian – from the late 1700’s forward.

In the mid to later 1800’s the surname finally stabilized mostly as Ruickbie.

I am missing a few in the 1820’s to 1855 – this being the reason for my query (-a try at finding them)

It would appear that Rickerby and Rickarby is your primary interest with Lancashire, England as the general area focus.

I do remember having a bit of BDM data “somewhere in this box” on such similar names in Scotland – I shall endeavour to find such and post it here in the next while…

Regards,

Larry
