Elijah was the son of Moses Shaff b. 1790 in Pa. Elijah was born in 1831 in Ohio and married Phebe Allen in Allamakee Co. Iowa in 1857. He moved to SD after serving in the Civil War and died in 1904. His son, Charles changed the spelling to Schaff. Please contact me if you know this family.
