Looking for the ancestry of my ggggrandfather, Peter B. Alston, born in South Carolina sometime in the 1790's - dates usually given are 1793,94 and 96. Married to Martha King, July 14, 1819, Halifax, North Carolina. Two sons born in early 1820's in NC, George W. and James, before the family moved to Muscogee Co. GA area around the 1830's to 1840's. Then later moved across the state line and a bit northward to Chambers Co. Alabama by 1850 (borders Troup Co., West Point, Georgia). There is no listing for Peter B. Alston after the 1850 census, however his wife and youngest two children are listed in the 1860 census for Chambers, AL. She is listed, along with most of her family by the 1870 census in Smith Co. Texas. Suspect a connection with the "Bacot" line of Alstons in SC, possibly the brother of Samuel Allston (born 1790), both sons of a Joseph Allston, and mother's last name Belin, but have no valid documentation. Any help is appreciated. Reply Report Abuse Print |
