I am looking for a connection for my Wooten Ancestors. Jesse & Mahala are listed in the 1850 Census for Regiment 5. His birth is listed as 1803, while Mahala is listed as about 1812. They have 8 children listed: Sarah M. 24; William 21; Warren 19; Jasper N. 17; Nancy 14; Benjamin F. 9; Mary A. 6; and George W. 3. Sarah is my connection.

Jesse MAY be listed in the 1850 Census listing for the Thomas Price Family as a laborer. His name is spelled "Wooton" (Not unusual) and his Birth is listed as 1813 instead of 1803; which would make him closer to his wife, Mahala. IF this is the same Jesse, he had a wife and 5 children elsewhere and seems to indicate movement into the area.

Mahala next appears in 1880 in Monroe County, TN; where, Sara M. & Mary A. have married and moved to. Mahala lives with Mary & Son-in-Law, William Henry Watson, and is listed as a Widow (perhaps Jesse was killed in the Civil War?).

Any clues in matching him with one of the Wooten families in the area would be appreciated, as would finding out the identity of his wife. Thanks, Jim
