At some point-in-time most everyone who owns a PC, will search the Internet for their surname. Afterwards, many of these folks will make "Root Searching" a new hobby. Some people simply want to document their short time on this earth for future generations and are using their PC to do such. (Don't make the mistake of buying a genealogy program - the Church of Latter-day Saints will give you one for free.)

During a 4 year period, a team of volunteers have helped build the Oconee homestead into the largest that the world-wide GenWeb organization has to offer - 37,000+ on-line tombstone inscriptions & 1,400+ on-line images! Volunteers from Alaska to Florida, from California to West Virginia, have helped build it. One gal typed continuously for 2 years! Another gal compiled tombstone inscriptions for over 20 years! Many folks helped on a one-time basis.

If you would like to put your PC to good use or have some spare time for volunteer work, I can find a job for you!

1) Researching and writing church histories.
2) Researching and writing about historical county sites.
3) Visiting cemeteries and updating their inscription recordings.
4) Checking the homestead for broken links.
5) Writing short descriptions for links.
6) Finding new links that should be added.
7) Photographing historical sites.
8) Draw 8x11" cemetery finding maps.
9) Take a pile of notes and write a flowing story from them.
10) Restore neglected pioneer cemeteries.
11) Write newspaper releases for homestead activities.
12) Help build new WebPages on various subjects.
13) Typing
14) The list goes on & on...
