Capt James McClure, a Revolutionary soldier, was enumerated on the 1790 census of Pendleton County, SC, with 4 males -16, 3 males +16, and 2 females. I'm sure he then lived near the Tugaloo River in what became (and is presently) Oconee County, SC. That is the last record I have for him. His wife was named Esther and I know she was still alive in 1838 from a letter I have of that year. They came there from Union County, SC, and I'm certain they were Presbyterians. Can anyone furnish any information as to when he or she died, where buried, and if they had children? The 1790 census certainly indicates they may have had children, but in 1835 a great-nephew had to manage her farm.
