By chance I have come upon a recollection of plantation days written by Flora Keith Overman in Dec. 1926. In this personal account, she mentions William Nevitt, a neighbor about three miles across the Rocky River from her grandparents' plantation. She also mentions a slave of the Nevitts, the Rev. Uncle Peter Nevitt, who holds the service for a slave baby during the War. If you would like to have the transcription, I will forward it to you.
By the way, I grew up in the subdivision, Nevitt Forest, off of Hwy. 76/178. I'm sure it was part of the property of Mr. William Nevitt, since the recollection describes his land as being across the Rocky River.
