Chandler Palmer was my gggrandfather, whose wife was Martha (Thomas, I believe). They lived at Townville, Anderson Co, SC; the 1850 census reflects Martha as head of household. Chandler died abt 1847. The children (that I know of) were William Andrew; Thomas B.; James W. (my great-grandfather); Milton; John C; Anderson; Chandler; Alena or Elena; and Joseph. The Palmers or Palmores owned land around the Seneca River. I have old deeds. My great grandfather, James W. was captured during the Civil War and was sent to the Point Lookout, MD Union Prison where he died in June, 1865. He had only one child, Nancy Elizabeth who m. Wm Robertson. Abt 1875, they moved to Gregg Co, TX to get a new start. Also, her mother (James W's widow who remarried) moved to Upshire Co, TX which is an adjacent Co. to Gregg Co, TX. Milton's family also moved to that area of TX. My grandmother emphasized that her name was PALMORE, yet the census of 1860 Anderson Co, SC reflects the name Palmer, which is interchangable. Are there anyone living in Anderson Co, SC now that recognizes this family? I know there are Palmers that still live around the lake that was built from the Seneca River, near Townville. If you recognize this family, please contact me.
