There are several SAXON families with connections to Burke Co., GA whom I assume to be closely related, and probably headed by siblings:

1. (Reverend) Henry SAXON was born 24 Oct 1775 in NC, and married first to Judith SMITH (da. of Samuel SMITH & Judith NELMS) around 1795, probably in Halifax Co., NC. In 1830, Henry and family were living in Twiggs Co., GA. Judith died around 1832, and Henry married secondly around 1838 to Elizabeth OLIVER. By 1840, Henry and family were living in Leon Co., FL, where he died 2 Nov 1856, and where his widow Elizabeth died 9 Feb 1890. Henry’s children by his two wives:

Benjamin Archelus       ca 1796 NC m. Mary DUNWODIE
       John
       Elizabeth
       Jane
James Smith              1803 m. Elizabeth DAVIS
Samuel Cowles       1806 m. Nancy Anne SHEPHERD
       Tabitha              1812 m. Hugh CAMERON
Joseph Tarpley       ca 1814 m. Mirandy Temperance HUDSON
       Mary                     ca 1817
       Richmond Nally       1817 m. Marg't J. MARTIN, Sophy J.(unk.)

       Henry D.              1839 m. Milly NORRIS
       Elizabeth              1841 m. Peter T. MICKLER
       Edward H.              1843
       Matilda C.              1845 m. W. W. SMITH
       George Washington       1848 m. Sarah R. BALL
Eliza Jane              1850 m. David WILLIS

2. William SAXON was born 1780-90, married Cecelia or Celia (born ca 1786 SC, maiden name not known) by ca 1803, and lived in Burke Co., GA in 1820 and 1830. William died before 1840, presumably in Burke Co., where his widow lived in 1840, 1850, and 1860. Their children:

       Martha                     ca 1803       m. COX
       male                     1800-10
       female                     1810-15
       female                     1810-15
       male                     1815-20
       female                     1820-25

3. Samuel SAXON was born ca 1784, married Jemima (maiden name not known), and lived in Burke Co. in 1820. Samuel seems to have died between 1820 and 1830, when Jemima appears as a head of household in Burke Co. Their children appear to have been these:

       Rebecca?
       James                     ca 1810
Joseph                     ca 1811 m. Martha DUKES, Melissa J. ATTAWAY
Henry                     ca 1811 m. Rebecca ATTAWAY
Mary                     ca 1818       m. Wm. DUKES
Augustus Allen       ca 1820 m. Edgeline (unk.), Mary Frances BEARFIELD

4. Benjamin Y. SAXON was born between 1790-1800, and drew in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery from Burke Co., where he appeared in the 1830 census, with a young male born 1810-15 as the only other member of his household, apart from four slaves. Benjamin Y. SAXON's presumed child:

       male                     1810-15

5. John SAXON was born between 1790-1800, and apparently died before 1840. His presumed widow Mary appears in the Burke Co. census as a head of household in 1840, 1850, and 1860. Their children are thought to have been these:

       male                     1810-20
Henry                     1818              m. Mima? (unk.), Sarah Ann (unk.)
[Henry had a son Benjamin Yancey (b. 1875)—see Benj. Y. above]
       female                     1820-25
       male                     1825-30
       female                     1825-30
John                     1831              m. Mary A. (unk.), Milly MURRAY
       male                     1835-40

Rev. Henry SAXON wrote a letter on 28 June1852 from Tallahassee (Leon Co., FL) to his nephew Henry SAXON in Burke Co., presumably a son of Samuel [see “Martin & Allied Families”]. Rev. Henry mentioned in his letter "all your Uncle John's children," "Aunt Mary," and "Celia and your Uncle William's children."

There have been several unfounded assumptions made about these Burke Co., GA SAXON’s. Lillie (MARTIN) GRUBBS, in her "Martin and Allied Families," said that William SAXON (above) was a son of Benjamin SAXON and Sarah GREEN and was mentioned in the Halifax Co., NC will of his maternal grandfather, William GREEN.
Unfortunately, William GREEN's will was dated 20 Dec 1760, and probated in March 1761, so this William (born 1780-90, according to the 1830 census of Burke Co., GA) could not possibly be William GREEN's grandson.

Henry, William, Samuel, Benjamin Y., and John are ASSUMED to have been siblings, only because of their close association in Burke Co., GA. They may have been grandsons of Benjamin SAXON of Laurens Co., SC and his first wife, Sarah(?) GREEN. Benjamin's son William SAXON (mentioned in his grandfather William GREEN's 1760 will) would have been old enough to be the father of this Burke Co., GA bunch.

I am seeking any evidence to confirm or refute the theory that William SAXON (born before 1761) of Laurens Co., SC may have been the father of these five Burke Co., GA siblings.
