I came across your note completely by accident last week.
I don’t know if the information I have is of any use to you or if we are even talking about the same family.
I had an uncle named Patrick Ryan who was a carpenter and whose father was a carpenter.
I vaguely remember when my uncle Patrick died. He lived in Bank Place.
I vaguely remember my father – Jack Ryan – sitting with Patrick when he was sick and coming home one morning to tell us that Patrick had died. This memory is very vague, but I would have thought it was before 1950. I was born in 1940
I know Patrick married a second time – a woman from Carlow. She was known to us just as Mrs Ryan. They had no children.
I know the names of some of Patrick’s children. There was a Mary and a Joseph and I think a Denis.
If you go to www.census.nationalarchives.ie you will be able to search the census records of 1901 and 1911.
Perhaps you have done this already.
Just about half way down the opening screen you will see:
Search the census records for Ireland 1901 and 1911.
Click on this and fill in the form.
My Ryan family live in 26 Clonmel Road in 1901 and in 79 Clonmel Road in 1911.
The DED is Tipperary E. Urban.
My grandfather Patrick was 43 in 1901 and 53 in 1911.
When I was growing up my uncle live at 5 Bansha Road Tipperary.
When I started asking questions about my grandparents I had just one aunt and one uncle still alive and for some reason both were reluctant to give me any information.
I didn’t know any of my grandparents.
I hope this small bit of information might be of some use to you.
