Amos Ross is the oldest man living in Lemond Township. He came from Wisconsin, where he had lived for fifteen years, and located on section 12, in 1857. He was born June 18, 1803 in Saratoga County, NY. His parents, Dorothy (Ernsburg*) and David Ross, were also natives of NY. They had eight children, four girls and four boys. On the 10th of January, 1828, Mr. Ross married Miss Experience Fairbank, who was born in NY 24 Feb 1806. She is now deceased leaving eight children: 1) Dorothy 5 Oct 1828, 2) Lucy 3 Sep 1834, 3) Cornelius F 3 Sep 1838 4) William C. 16 Jan 1841, 5) Susan J. 16 Jun 1846, 6) James W. 10 Sep 1830, 7) Sarah Ermina 31 May 1843, 8) Rebecca 9 Mar 1849, all of whom are married. Mr. Ross is a republican and a member of the Methodist church. *Note: I don't know where this information came from but I believe it's incorrect.
