Jonathan Oakley b 1/30/1779 d between 1820-1841 Haverstraw, NY married Eleanor Rose possibly born 6/20/1787 d 9/23/1841, buried in the Waldron Cemetery, Grassy Point, NY. Eleanor's daughter Rachel Oakley is mentioned as a step-daughter to William McClary b 1/7/1784 d 2/8/1847 buried in Waldron Cemetery, Grassy Point, NY, and William's wife "Ellen" (possibly Eleanor Oakley) is listed in census records. Looking for ancestors of Eleanor. I understand that the Rose family is very hard to straighten out. Lower Hudson River area researcher Sally Dewey worked hard on figuring out who belonged to whom in these families, the English "Rose" and the Dutch "Roos" were sometimes mixed up, depending upon who was recording the data. Any information on the ancestors of Eleanor Rose would be greatly appreciated. Karin Schoonmaker Fullam
