Roosevelts came from near HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND, FDR's own
words: "...There's a tradition in our family that the Roosevelts came from somewhere near HAARLEM...". [FDR to
Delgado in 1938: Franklin Delano Roosevelt Library, President's Personal File 73; also, see pg. 25 of FDR: A
BIOGRAPHY by Ted Morgan (1985). HAARLEM is the artistic &
scientific center of NORTH HOLLAND. "FDR prefered to believe that he descended from the more prominent
HAARLEM ROOSEVELTS rather than from the common Vossemeer
Roosevelts, who produced nothing but clergyman and
schoolmaster. In 1938, he told an interviewer, Virginia
Pearce Delgado: "I don't believe a word about this
Zeeland business [Zeeland was the province to which the
island of Tholen belonged]. I think it's all a grand
publicity stunt someone thought up to attract tourists off
the beaten track. There's a tradition in our family that
the Roosevelts came from somewhere near HAARLEM..."" --pg.
25 of FDR: A BIOGRAPHY by Ted Morgan (1985) & in notes
section of his book reference the FDR statement to Delgado
is given as FDR to Delgado the Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Library [FDRL], President's Personal File [PPF] 73.

p.s.: HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND, is where the Roosevelt Study
Center in HOLLAND should have been located and NOT the tourist attraction of Vossemeer, Tholen, Zeeland, South Holland.
