I;ve been looking for information on Jesse Romine who lived in the Methow valley and married Isobel Stone sometime in the early 1900's. They moved going over the mountains (he was a pack trader and freighter so managed to go where no roads went) to Fort Steele in BC Canada They moved back and forth across the border winding up in Alberta and finally Northern BC in 1930,
I am basically looking for more information on his early life, Isobel's family and where they lived in the valley. Have no idea how to find any land records etc.
Jesse once remarked to my brother (whose grandfather he was) (I was born after he died) "that life got harder as he went along first he married a Stump then a Stone." This was the only refference ever heard by my brother to a first wife. So would like to find out if this was so. As well as any other information available. Jesse's mother was Angelletie Hollenbeck, sometime called Anselletta Or Lettie. She was married to Jesse's father Jake, (probably Jacob) and later to George Ferguson I think.
