Hi Debby,
we haven't talk from a time, gues you dindn't lost your hope, don't do it because hoping is so good; I'm a good example, this days, after 2 years of searching hundres of documents I was surprised to find a long lost relative exactly when I was determined to give up, so keep trying. There are so many places to serch, so many informations that don't mach so is hard but wonderful. Now, this is what I found for you so far: there is a Istvan Venig, shoemaker, in Ellis Island files, 26 years old, travelling on Ultonia ship leaving from Fiume on oct.10, 1908, arriving in NY on oct.23, 1908, his was destination South Bend Indiana to a friend Kololi Peter. The same Istvan Venig appears after 15 years, at age 41, in august 1923 travelling from Cherbourg, France with ship Berengaria. He appears on the list as american citizen, naturalised in San Francisco in dec.24, 1914. He was also declared as shoemaker travelling also to South Bend Indiana. I dindn't find any information yet about Peter Lazarucz, but, if you say he went to US in 1922/1923 I supose is posible they met and travelled together, there are many files in this document, first are files of american citizens, then came files for other peoples, not american citizens, then came files for aliens. I looked up in alien files for a beet , but dind't succed to see all of them; if you have time, go up to the end of them, maybe is there. Let me know if you find him there. Anyhow, today in Band-Mures there appear not to be any person with Lazarucz or sound like name, maybe name are misspeld, didn't seem to sound like a romanian name, they could be magyar, there are many magyars in Band. I only found a Horgos woman in Draculea Bandului village. I hope my information can be a start for you.Regards, Rena
