My mother was born on April 18, 1927, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, at the Misericordia Hospital and her birth name was Therese Cote. Her birth mother was Gloria Cote (signed her name as Gloria Cote and Rose Cote, so maybe her name was Gloria Rose Cote or Rose Gloria Cote), she was 19 years old at the time of the birth. My motherís birth father was Dan Robillard and he paid for her care and medical expenses for about one year (very unusual for those days I think). Dan and Gloria did not marry but Gloria tried to keep her daughter but eventually had to give her up for adoption when she was 1 year old as she could not afford to provide for her. My mother was eventually adopted by the Menard family in Ottawa (Regina and Moise Menard). The Childrenís Aid Society (CAS) of Ottawa told us that Gloria Cote had a brother and sister that lived in small towns close to Ottawa but did not know their names, the CAS also told us that Gloria Cote said she came from Timmins, Ontario, Canada, but could not validate this information. When my mother was given up for adoption in 1928, the CAS did not have further contact with Gloria Cote or Dan Robillard and therefore we donít know what became of them. I have no information on Dan Robillard except that he lived in Eastview Ottawa in 1927 (the year my mom was born). Any information about Dan Robillard would be appreciated. My mother is 85 years old and has always wanted to know her roots.
