I found 3 family trees with Eveline and her parents, James Robards and Nancy Ann Moss. They all give James's parents as John Robards and Sarah Marshall. The 1910 Robards geneology book by James Harvey Robards gives John's parents as William Robards Sr. and his first wife, Sallie Hill. Lewis Robards was the son of William Robards Sr. and his second wife, Elizabeth Lewis. So, James's father, John, was a half brother to Lewis. John is usually designated John Jr., probably because his grandfather was also named John.

The book only gives the following info on the family: "John RoBards, Jr., married Sarah Marshall, July 9, 1772. They had three sons, William and Marshall, twins, born January 24, 1774, and John, who was born July 21, 1782, and died testate in Mercer county, Kentucky, August, 1845. He had three sons, Nathaniel Andrew, George Madison and John Henry. Nothing further is known of this family."

I would not be overly concerned about James not being listed as a child of John and Sarah in the book. The past 100 years have shown that many people were left out of the geneology book. My ancestor, Lewis's brother George, is only listed as having 4 children. He actually had at least 10.
