I have been trying to track down a John Davis who lived on Black Island, Maine in 1820. I have just come across a listing of Hancock County Intentions to Marry which includes a John Davis and a 'Lois' Rich. I am putting Lois in quotation marks because I suspect that is a mispelling of her name...perhaps Louisa or even Loisa or something altogether different. The only other John Davis in Hancock County who married around that time was sopposedly from Hull's Cove and he married an Esther Smallidge about 1802. Any information would be wonderful.
