I have read the Civil Registration records for Mulhausen (Muhlhouse), Bas-Rhin, France otherwise Alsace, and don't remember seeing the name of REEG. However I do know that there were two different REEB families in Mulhausen between 1793-1862 and one of them did come to New Orleans. I also noticed that the death records of New Orleans do contain some very badly spelled names and for some reason the REEB family got misspelled at various times as REED, RIBB, and RAAP. The RAAP spelling is understandable since REEB is pronounced with the double ee as sounding like our a and the b at the end of the German name takes the sound of P. I have also seen some German Bs written in a way that they could be mistaken for a G.
