Through the efforts of several dedicated researchers, we've added a good bit to the "Raysor Family Gathering" web site recently, including Civil War letters, new cemetery transcriptions and tombstone photos, new Bible records, new obituaries. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~raysor/ Anyone researching the descendants of Michael Raysor and Eleanor Risher of Colleton District, South Carolina, will find something of interest here. (If you are African-American and researching your Raysor family, this information may lead to invaluable clues for you.) Many of their descendants remained in, or returned to, South Carolina, in what is now Colleton County, Dorchester County, Orangeburg County, Bamberg County, Allendale County, and Charleston County. Other descendants ended up in Jefferson and Madison Counties in Florida. Others in Randolph County and Brooks County, Georgia. Others in Washington County, Texas. Other Prominent surnames: Chalmers, Erwin, Felder,Hiers, Johnson, Inabinet, May, Moss, Risher, Stokes, Utsey, Walker.
