The purpose of the website at http://www.geocities.com/courthouse_fire is to encourage descendents of residents of Sullivan County, Indiana to get FREE DNA testing to compensate for records lost in the courthouse fire of 1850. DNA can help discover family connections that were lost by destroyed records. You may order FREE DNA oarticipation kits from http://www.smgf.org/pages/request_kit.jspx The emphasis is on the Portwood and related families (Lamb, Davidson, McCammon, Hunter, Willis, Halloway)but all others are welcome to participate in the project. Subject to limitations.
