Hello. After reading 29 pages with passaport names, embarking on the Bell Rock, leaving for the Sandwich Islands( Hawai), I found José da Ponte and Joaquina Emilia. Passports are all dated from 10 August 1883, I don´t know when the ship left the Azores. I was surprized to find the number of people leaving for Hawai that year.

Passports for José da Ponte and his wife Joaquina Emília, 10 August 1883, to embark on the SS Bell Rock, destination Sandwich Islands:

José da Ponte
son of Manuel da Ponte and Caetana da Soledade
39, married, peasant
natural from the county of Lagoa, parish of Santa Cruz

Joaquina Emilia
daughter of Antonio de Mattos Chamiço and Maria Joaquina
27, married, peasant
natural from the county of Lagoa, parish - Sr.a Anjos

I found the christening of Joaquina Emilia born on 22 February 1856 and christened on 1 March 1856, in the church of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos de Agua de Pau. That was the old name of the parish, the civilian name now is Agua de Pau, Lagoa, São Miguel.

I tried to find the register of José da Ponte. I read the records fo 1843, 1844 and 1845 and nothing, maybe something is wrong.
