Here is more on the Szymon/Simon “Pener” (should be PENAR) family.
New records/information indicates that the Penar family was in fact from Galicia/Austria/Poland (not Germany/Poland).
Simon, Helena and their four (4) daughters immigrated to the U.S. on November 22, 1889 on board the S.S. Lahn that sailed from Bremen Germany. They settled in Chicago’s Noble Square neighborhood (Cubs country) near the Holy Trinity Parish.
There are 1900, 1910 and 1920 U.S. census records for the Penar family.
The 1900 census is indexed as Szymon “Penart” living at #7 Emma (now West Cortez) Street in Chicago, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60642).
The 1910 census is indexed as “Hellen Penner” (a widow) living at 1453 Tell Place (now West Thomas Street) Street in Chicago, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60642).
The 1920 census is indexed as Helen “Penner” (a widow) living at 1441 Emma (now West Cortez) Street in Chicago, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60642).
Szymon/Simon Penar was born in Galicia/Austria/Poland around November 1830 (died on June 25, 1909 in Chicago). He married Helena/Helen STAJAK around 1871. Helen was born in May 1845 in Dukla Galicia/Austria/Poland (died on October 25 1929 in Chicago). They had six (6) daughters. All of the daughters with the exception of Francis were all born in Galicia/Austria/Poland. Sophie born in May1870, Anna born in May 1877, Mary born in April 1878, Rose born in June 1881, Carolina born in February 1883 and Francis born in Chicago in March 1893.
Anna married Stanley Goszczyniak
Mary married Jacob Panek
Rose married Albert Pasko
Francis married Rudolph Blazek
There are still many adults with the PENAR and STOJAK surnames in the southern Polish powiats (counties) of Krosno and Sanok.
You have other family members who have posted to the Ancestry.com Penar family tree. They are Jason Dyba and Amy Robison.
