I have Access to Ancestry.com (and a few other indexes) and found the following available genealogy data for Leon Peter Janicki.
There are 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 U.S. Census records for Leo and his family. There are also WW I and WW II draft registration cards and a Cook County Court record for Leo’s U.S. Naturalization documents.
The 1910 U.S. census record is indexed as Leon “Janiczki” (a single boarder) living at 2127 West 18th Place in Chicago Ward 12, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60608).
The 1920 U.S. census record is indexed as Leonard Janicki (a single boarder?) living at 3006 West 21st Place in Chicago Ward 12, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60623).
The 1930 U.S. census record is indexed as Leo “B. Janecki” living at 2623 Spaulding Avenue in Chicago, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60623).
The 1940 U.S. census record is indexed as Leo Janicki living at 4631 Homan Avenue in Chicago, Cook County, IL (present-day zip code 60609).
Leo Janicki was born on April 3, 1891in Russia/Poland. He married Martha Romps on November 26, 1919 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Chicago. Martha Romps was born in 1897 in Illinois. Leo and Martha had two (2) daughters: Margaret born on August 26, 1920 and Dorothy born in 1924.
Leo immigrated to the U.S. between 1907 and 1909. He was naturalized a U.S. citizen in Chicago on July 2, 1931.
According to Leo’s WW I draft registration card, He was born on April 3, 1891 in Russia/Poland. At the time of his registration on June 5, 1917, he was living at 3142 Albany Street in Chicago and was employed as a foreman at the Victor (automotive) Gasket Company located at 21st and Troy Streets in Chicago.
According to Leo’s WW II draft registration card, he was born on April 3, 1891 in Warszawa Poland. At the time of this registration in 1942, he was living with his wife Martha at 4631 South Homan in Chicago. He was employed by the General Springs and Bumper Company located at 1455 West 38th Street in Chicago.
You can obtain a copy of Leo’s U.S. Naturalization documents from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Here is link to their web site:
A search for LEO JANICKI produces an index record that indicates Leo was born on April 3, 1891 and was living at 3008 West 21st Place in Chicago when he filed his documents on November 16, 1926. The index further indicates that Leo arrived in the U.S. on September 16, 1907 from Rotterdam, Holland. It lists his birth city as “GREFOFA” Poland.
