Lisa,

Unless there was a later connection to the Hopkins family, the only connection of which I am aware was that of Charles Hopkins, a stage actor, to Ms. Elizabeth (Eliza) Arnold. They were married sometime between June 12 and August 11, 1802 when Eliza was about 15 years old. There is no record of their marriage and this approximate date is from the theatre playbills where her appearances were changed from Eliza Poe to Mrs. Hopkins. They joined Green's Virginia Company and opened in Alexandria, Virginia on August 2, 1802.

Charles Hopkins died on October 26, 1805 and Mrs. Elizabeth (Eliza)Arnold Hopkins became a widow at the age of 18. On March 14, 1806, Elizabeth (Eliza) Arnold Hopkins married David Poe, Jr. Edgar Poe was born four years later on Jamuary 19, 1809. There was no relationship between Edgar Poe and Charles Hopkins.

Edgar's marriage to Virginia Clemm resulted in no children, nor did his sister or brother have any chidren. If there is a connection, it must be with Edgar's realtives.

Regards,
