A biography/family history of Clinton J. Poe, pioneer druggist of Medicine Lake, MT, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 1150. Parents: Jonathan S. Poe, native of Danville, KY; in Minnesota married Miss Emma Babcock, born at Port Huron, MI, daughter of Dow Babcock. Children: Mrs. Ivie D. Simpson, Redwood Falls, MN; Mrs. E.E. Orr, Wadena, MN; Mrs. O.E. Elstad, Dennison, MN; Mrs. Lewis Bascom, Cannon Falls, MN); Richard M., Cannon Falls, MN; Clinton J., Montana. Clinton was born 23 Jun 1884, Cannon Falls, MN. He moved to Glenbury Falls, ND, and ca 1907 moved on to Culbertson, MT, where he spent three years in the jewelry business. In 1910, he located to Medicine Lake, MT, where he was a registered pharmacist. He was elected the town's first mayor, holding the office for two terms. On 22 Oct 1910, Bainville, MT, Clinton married Miss Marie Bielen, born in St. Paul, MN, 15 Aug 1887, daughter of Peter and Sophie (Friedman) Bielen, natives of Germany and Minnesota, respectively. Poe children: Dorothy, Helen, John. I am not related.
