I am interested in a group of slaves who lived in Madison and later Brazos County, Texas. Among that group are Pigfords. Rose Pigford, born about 1840 in North Carolina had children born in Mississippi--so she is very likely the slave of the Pigfords who migrated from North Carolina via Mississippi to Madison County. Have any of you found mentioning of slaves in the documents of your ancestors? Also in this group or Knox, Knight, Gary, Green, Blue, Ellis, Love and Johnsons---some of whom claim North Carolina roots.
