I'm of "double Petro" lineage on Mom's side. Mom's mother's maiden name was Emily Theresa Petro. Her father was Tomas (also spelled "Thomas") Petro; her mother's maiden name was Helen Petro (yes, making her "Helen Petro Petro"). Helen was born in the U.S., but I believe one or both of her parents came from Russia, although they may have been of Slovak descent. Tomas came from "Slovakland" (Austria-Hungary). My grandmother's older brother was John; the other siblings, all younger than her, were Thomas, Helen, Abraham (or was it Albert -- he died in 1955), and Anna. The elder Helen Petro (my great-grandmother) had several siblings; the ones that survived into my lifetime were Jack (aka "John") and Margaret. The latter moved to Gary, IN. Is there any chance we could be related? |
