Nov. 24 1800, Thomas H. Purkins deeded to Ambrose Powell land "on the waters of Gum Creek on the So side of the Haw River in Orange County." I believe this Ambrose Powell was married to the daughter of Michael HOLT, who died 1798/9 in Orange. Further, this daughter may have herself died within the next few years. Did Thomas H. Purkins have a son or brother, Nicholas Perkins, who in 1809 sold land in Maury Co., TN to Ambrose Powell. (In 1788 Isabel Purkins md John Holt in Orange; in 1799 Elizabeth Perkins md Nicholas Perkins in Orange.) Do any PURKINS/PERKINS reseachers have any information that might refer to Ambrose POWELL or his wife HOLT? Or any connection between Thomas and Nicholas?
