The settlers were what we would call Milita. I don't believe they had much organization. This was the 1630's! The Pequot War was a very minor affair for the colonist, devasating for the Pequots who were a proud and fierce tribe. Go to www.Google.com and search on Pequot Wars, you'll get more than you ever wanted to know. I note in my previous message that the Fort burned by Mason was really in the site of present day Mystic, Connecticut and not New Haven (about 60 miles away). |
